Start the new school year on the “bright” side. September is Breakfast for Learning Month and across the country, Canadians will help shine the spotlight on child nutrition and its vital link to learning.

”Breakfast for Learning Month highlights the importance of child nutrition and the positive impact it has on learning,” said Wendy Wong, president and CEO of Breakfast for Learning. “Students that eat a healthy breakfast perform better in school yet, due to many reasons including poverty, busy schedules and long commutes, many students across Canada attend school hungry and unable to concentrate in class.”

Across the country, Canadians will celebrate Breakfast for Learning Month with local events, fundraisers and activities to get children and youth excited about healthy food choices.

”To help parents, teachers and student nutrition program volunteers raise awareness about child nutrition, Breakfast for Learning offers an Online Club with kid-tested recipes, nutrition education resources, activities and an interactive bulletin board where communities can share their ideas,” Wong added.

“This Breakfast for Learning Month, help children and youth establish the building blocks for a healthy lifestyle that will last throughout the whole school year.”

Breakfast for Learning is the most comprehensive, national non-profit organization dedicated to student nutrition programs and the healthy development of children and youth.
