The Nike Golf NB Mid-Amateur Championship is history and what a week. Seventy-three golfers, not 54 that I reported last week, participated. The winner was Drew McCafferty of the Moncton Golf Club, who was the youngest member in the field. He turned 25 on Saturday.

There was high praise for our course from all the competitors and thanks for the course condition has to go to Bernie Tabor and his crew. Many thanks to all our volunteers for a job well done.

I omitted the list of Past Presidents Cup club team qualifiers from last week's column. So here goes: Division A, Kris Leask, Jamie Roach; B, Craig Mitton, Rene Hache, Norb Strang, Adam Aiton; C, George Myers, Neville Haire, Hal Gilchrist, Jim Carter; D, Danny Hayes, Dennis Belliveau, Kevin Bernard, Andy Simpson; and E, Jim Walker, Gale Jeffrey. Best of luck in your travels this summer.

We have scheduled a nine & dine for July 11. Originally the next one was for August, but they are growing in popularity so we decided to keep the movement going. Bring a friend or neighbour, come on out and enjoy the golf, meal, and entertainment. Please register in the pro shop.

The ladies are hosting the Sandy Pollock memorial tournament July 7. It all starts at 5:30 p.m. with a shotgun format. This event is open to our lady members only. The top three winners with a handicap of 24 or more will represent the club in the Rose Bowl at Gage Golf Club later this month. Remember to register on the bulletin board in the ladies locker room.

Now that school is out, the junior program swings into action. The clinics begin July 3 at 9 a.m. All juniors who are registered for the clinics should be at the club Friday. Their designated time for clinics will be determined at that time. The registration fee for members is $35 and $75 for non-members. Please call the pro shop to register. The programs for all junior activities for the summer will be outlined at that time.

The club is hosting a junior invitational July 10 with a starting time of 10 a.m. The juniors have a lot of tournaments they can enter around the province and at that time you can meet and make a lot of friends from other golf courses and enhance your game.

The club is 40 years old this year. We were incorporated in 1968 and are planning a celebration later this year. More to come later. See you next week.
