Sonics host league openers

The Sussex Sonics opened their high school boys and girls rugby AAA south division seasons on their home pitch May 3.

The SRHS girls (above: Haylee Rae with ball) lost to the Harbourview Vikings while the boys shut out the visiting Vikings 36-0. Scoring tries for Sussex were Evan McKnight with two, Zach Folkins (below), Ira Sheasby and Jamie Mullin. Kicking converts were McKnight, Mullin and Ian McKnight.

The Sonics also had a penalty try to open the scoring. Sussex continues its homestand this week with a boys game May 6 against Hampton (5:30 p.m.), a girls game May 7 versus Hampton (5:30) and a doubleheader May 10 with Kennebecasis Valley coming to town for 1 p.m. and 2:30 girls and boys fixtures respectively. All games are held at the Sussex Middle School field.
