Leagues begin next week

Welcome to the 2008 golf season. We are pleased to start our weekly golf column this week. We were the first club to open in the province this year and we are in great shape. The grounds crew did a great job putting the course to bed last fall and we opened with all regular greens and tees.
Our management staff is all set for an exciting year. Jayne Ingalls, our general manager, is supported by golf professional Brent McKay and superintendent Bernie Tabor. We welcome back all of our regular staff, on the course, in the pro shop and in the clubhouse. The ice shed is ready for storage of private power carts and golf clubs. The driving range is open and we will soon have a new ball dispenser that will accept tokens, making it more efficient for pro shop staff to provide the range service.
Memberships are coming in steadily and we welcome many new members to the club this year; a majority that come to us with our new four-for-three membership deal. This deal is available to any group of four new members ("new" defined as those golfers who have not been members in the last five or more years). The price of three memberships is applied to the group of four, resulting in a great deal for first-year membership.
Our junior program will commence when school gets out and once again we are offering non-member juniors the chance to participate. For $75, a child can take part in twice-weekly lessons, equipment included. Call Brent in the pro shop for further details. Register early to avoid disappointment, as these classes fill up quickly!
The Monday morning seniors group begins May 12 with breakfast upstairs in the clubhouse beginning at 7:15 a.m. and golf to follow. Our ladies also begin May 12, starting with a wine tasting at 5:30, followed by a dinner and meeting at 6 p.m.
The Tuesday men's league starts May 13. Please call or drop by the pro shop to register your team.
The 2008 green fees are $37 weekdays, $40 weekends (tax included). We offer twilight rates after 3 p.m. ($25 per person walking; $35 per person with power cart), and our popular two-for-one Mondays ($33.50 per person, includes power cart).
Green fee players can call ahead 48 hours to book tee times. Members can book 72 hours in advance. Please do not abuse your booking privilege; give the names of all players in your group when you book your tee time, and if you cannot play, please call ahead and cancel. Likewise, if the number in your group changes, please let the pro shop know in advance of when you show up.
If you have any questions, please call the club at 433-4951. See you back here next week!
