Communication is an important part of the 4-H Program in New Brunswick. 4-H members compete and present a prepared speech or demonstration at their 4-H Club level, usually during the months of January and February. In March the first place winners at the club level compete in the district level to win a spot in the Provincial Communication Competition.
The top senior public speaker will go on to represent the 4-H program and compete in the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture Competition to be held in connection with the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in November.
In 2007 Krista Boom of the Westmorland Co. Holstein 4-H Club competed in this competition. The New Brunswick 4-H Council plans to send Meghan Black of the Countryside 4-H Club to the 2008 competition to be held in Toronto in November.
