The Sussex Cancer Survivors Relay Team fundraisers are always popular, often selling out.

The motto of the Sussex Cancer Survivors' Support Group is "We have already walked the walk of the Big "C" Cancer, now we walk the walk of the Bigger "C" Cure."

Their efforts next week will be focused on a fundraiser to help with that Bigger C as they hold their Spring Fashion Show and Tea.

The Sussex Cancer Survivors Relay Team will benefit from the tea, offering musical entertainment, fashions for all occasions from back yard to a formal wedding and tea, with a host of delicious desserts.

Many local businesses have made donations of door prizes, desserts and other "tea" items. Everyone will go home with a gift. There are over $5,000 in door prizes, including a 14kt white gold seven-diamond journey pendant valued at $700 complete with its appraisal certificate. Other prizes include hot air balloon rides, a day trip to the International Tattoo in Halifax, hotel accommodations, clothing and gift certificates. The event is May 4 at 2 p.m. at Sussex Regional High School.

The Survivors Sussex Team held a fashion show as a fundraiser for the Relay for Life event in 2005 and due to a sell-out crowd, some people were disappointed. This prompted their move to the high school. All proceeds are for the June 13 Sussex Relay For Life.

Tickets are available at Goolds Flowers or by calling 432-1010. A $20 ticket buys a reserved seat; a $15 buys a non-reserved seat.

Major sponsors are Weekenders Ladies Fashions, Lockhart's Weddings and Special Occasions, Goold's Flowers, Charm Diamond Centre, Pure Indulgence and Mary Kay.
