The Millstream Bucks capped off their dominance of the 2007-2008 Kings County Hockey League season by winning the final series of the playoffs March 19 at the 8th Hussars Sports Centre.

The Bucks doubled the Midland Greco Aces 6-3 in game six, which followed a 6-5 game-five, March 16 triumph.

It was a campaign of highlight after highlight for the Millstream men. After a shootout loss in their opening game, the Bucks reeled off 27 straight wins to easily claim the regular season crown.

Veteran centre Adam Beechin was the top scorer and regular season MVP with his 105-point performance while Mike Nodwell was stellar between the pipes with a 20-0-1 record and the league's best goals against average (2.61). The latter player was also picked as the MVP for the playoffs.

Blueliner Shane Earle was named top defenceman.

Geoff Parlee of the Penobsquis Predators got the nod as the league's rookie of the year.

Millstream got past the Sussex Molson Canadians four games to one in the KCHL semifinals while Midland swept the Sussex Corner Coyotes.

With the final series at two wins apiece, the Bucks fell behind 3-1 after one period in the game five, but rallied to make it 4-4 after two frames.

Steve Mason fired the winner with just under two minutes remaining.

Cory Doiron, Chris Thorne, Joe Miller, Chris Muir and Beechin had the other Millstream goals. Jeff Keith tallied twice for Midland while Alex McQuinn, Adam Sherwood and Matt Smith put Midland on the scoresheet.

Millstream built a 2-0 lead on markers by Beechin and Miller in the first period of game six. Midland tied matters midway through the second stanza on goals 39 seconds apart by Justin Henry and Smith.

Beechin, who finished the night with three goals, gave the Bucks a 3-2 advantage on the powerplay at 14:57 and upped the count to 4-2 four minutes into the third period.

Thorne increased the margin to three goals at 4:26, but Keith got one back at 5:59. Thorne closed the scoring at 7:27.

Nodwell posted the crease wins in the last two games while Dale Gray was handed the losses.
